Linde Nijland ‘sings Sandy Denny’ & more…

Linde Nijland is often called ‘best folk singer of the Netherlands’. As a songwriter she’s received high acclaim, but she is also known for her sincere renditions of Sandy Denny song material. Joe Boyd (producer of Nick Drake, Fairport Convention) said about her Sandy Denny project “Linde Nijland has given Sandy Denny’s music the respect it deserves, and made a lovely and fresh record that shows off her beautiful voice as well as her good taste”. In 2009 he invited her to sing as part of an All Star Fairport reunion concert in the Barbican Hall (together with Richard Thompson). Linde also sang with Fairport Convention in their current line-up on different occasions and was interviewed for the Bob Harris radio documentary ‘Who knows where the time goes’ for BBC2.

Linde will be accompanied by Bert on guitars, cittern, accordion, banjo and dobro. A capella songs are mixed with ballads, instrumental tunes and up tempo sing alongs. Expect a unique atmosphere, not to be missed.

She started out as a part of Dutch female harmony singing duo Ygdrassil and has more recently been performing and recording with multi instrumentalist Bert Ridderbos (‘seemingly a one man orchestra’ acc. to fRoots). Together they made a musical friendship journey over land to Bhutan (through Balkan and eastern countries, like Serbia, Iran, India). More recently Linde’s brand new album ‘Ten Years’ – with mostly self penned songs – was released and nominated for the esteemed German award ‘Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik’.
