What Was On

The Stickhill Hoot

Saturday 17th January 2026 at 7:30pm.

A traditional folk band based in the heart of Dorset.

Inspired by the traditional folk music of Scotland – The Stickhill Hoot play jigs, reels, waltzes and airs from the mainland and isles of Scotland, along with some of the best tunes from elsewhere in the UK.
The melodies are lovely and the infectious rhythms are irresistible foot-tappers!

The lineup
  • Simon – fiddle
From haunting traditional airs to lilting waltzes to the driving energy of Scottish reels, Simon’s passion for fiddle music comes through in all that he plays.
  • Dave – guitar
Dave is the rhythmic heart of The Hoot, creating infectious grooves that get audiences on their feet from the first number.
  • Chris – piano and melodeon
Brooding accompaniments, soulful melodies and pulsing bass lines are the essence of Chris’s playing style.
  • Hannah – vocals and rhythm
